Sotsiaalse kapitali ja noorte kodanike arendamine Ida-Euroopa riikides
Sõnu ‘aktivism’ ja ‘seotus’ kuuleme päris tihti ja need on viimasel dekaadil laialt levinud. ‘Sotsiaalse kapitali’ all mõtleme võimet luua, hoida ning arendada võrgustikke. Teisisõnu võib see tähendada meeskonnatööd ühiste muutuste nimel.
noorteorganisatsioonid, noorte tegevused, noorte seotus, vabatahtlikkus, muutuste tegijad, ümbruskond, Euroopa kodakondsus, programm Kodanike Euroopa.
Rahvusvahelises projektis osaleb viis vabaühingut Euroopast: Social innovation centre (Läti), Centrum Rozwoju Inicjatyw Społecznych (Poola), Bridge Language Study House (Rumeenia), Sveikatingumo idėjos (Leedu), Eestist on projektipartneriks MTÜ INVOLVED.

Anna Haritonova: ‘Share more information for everybody then you will get more inormation from others.’
– Workshop (June 2015 in Jurmala – Latvia): „Creation, testing and analysis of youth understanding about social capital”
Me, from Estonia were taking part on June 3rd 2015 at Jurmala, Latvia in the workshop „Creation, testing and analysis of youth understanding about social capital”. Participants from Baltic countries, Poland and Romania were invited to participate in one day meeting and amongst other things were actively having discussion on „What elements have to be in questionnaire to test youth understanding about social capital and civic engagement?’’. Contemplating two different parts for it, to be mentioned: civic engagement and social Capital.
The program started with formal meeting that included getting to know the participants and the organizations they represented. We, participants had to get to the bottom of the questionnaire that has been used as a model on based on two proven researches from Europe and United States and which consists of civic engagement and social capital. As the program continued we tackled the topic ’How opinions are gathered about specific topics in Romania, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia” and how we can do it in effective way?, which gave different concepts and ideas leading to great discussions amongst participants who gathered in different groups. In the afternoon we had an NGO’s representative from Latvian Youth Center (Jurmala) where after presenting the work that is done in the field of youth work such us „How opinions are gathered about specific topics in Latvia in effective way?” also an overview was given about Structural Dialog examples in Latvia. At the end of their visit they also shared different activities they do in their organization.
A city tour of Jurmala’s sea side was an interesting part of the program called „Walk and talk” that enabled us to learn and view the city including a non formal discussion within partners involved on the most important issue: activity along the Baltic sea about social capital and civic engagement challenges with youth.
On the last hours as hard as it was to say our goodbyes… I was satisfied with the work we had achieved in a short period, the program evaluation promises a great continuation of the project during October 2015 in Poland.
Thanks to NGO INVOLVED for the given opportunity and not only to develop myself, but also having the possibility of meeting colleagues, young people, educator and sharing common concerns and, seeing how they can be solved or at least try to find possible way of doing so. I’m sure that my sending organization will benefit from my experience and I hope to impact my peers in a positive way on youth understanding about social capital.
Conference October 2015 in Poland
Project:
Social capital development as a tool of youth civic participation in Eastern Europe countries (SOCAP)
Words “activism” and “engagement” can be heard quite often and become widespread in last decade. Disposition to create, maintain and develop networks is understood as “social capital”. In other words it can be also described as community coming together to be a collective source of change. The activity, membership and volunteering in civil society organizations is called “civic engagement” or “civic participation”. International Civic and Citizenship Study (2009) states that between Western and Eastern Europe countries differences exist in civic engagement and participation.
The project “Social capital development as a tool of youth civic participation in eastern Europe countries” (SOCAP) aims to involve youth and youth workers into discussion having main topics: youth organisations, youth activities, youth engagement, volunteering, change-makers, community, European citizenship, programme Europe for citizens.
Discussion will be held on different events:
– conferences (March 2015 in Latvia, October 2015 in Poland, March 2016 in Lithuania),
– round table discussions (March 2015 in Latvia, May 2015 in Romania, May 2016 in Estonia),
– workshop (June 2015 in Latvia),
– training (January 2016 in Latvia).
The target audience of the project is youth and youth workers from organisations/centres. Project aims to have direct communication with those who will benefit from this project at most. During the project the participants will be encouraged to tell their own stories and come up with ideas how to improve situation in their community, propose solutions how to increase willingness to become more active and involved among youth. The stories than will be uploaded in virtual platform created by youth for youth called “Social Capital Development Guide” giving each and every idea a voice.
